One of the most interesting exhibits at the UN-Habitat world urban forum has been the Slum Reblocking installation by Shack/Slum Dwellers International. A different take on slum-upgrading, these guys look at “re-blocking” the housing in the same format and space as the original slum, but with more durable materials.
